Hallelujah the toilet ring is gone

I have been trying every product known to man kind to get the rings off my toilets! Low and behold, a woman looking at our apartment said "wow, you really have some hard water stains". She told me to buy this pumice stone for my toilets and tubs. I tried it, and it worked! I spent many years thinking I was a fabulous cleaner, but I couldn't figure out how to get those damn rings out! Now my tubs and toilets are sparkly new! Ahhhhh, the highlights of being a housewife. Thank you for changing my life, strange lady.

Surfs Up

Okay, so when I finally move to that beach or island to surf my life away, I am buying this print by California artist Andy Davis.

Felt Projects

These slippers are so adorable and cozy. You can learn how to make them here. If you don't feel like a huge project I think these tissue cases are great. Felt just feels so cozy in the winter.

Mid-Century Modern Furniture

My sister is decorating her new apartment and I came across this article on Domino for inspiration. Happy hunting !

Tips for Buying

Mix it Up:

Can't find what you need to make your room look like the Jetsons' pad? That may be a good thing. A room full of mid-century modern can feel very design-heavy and man-made. Think about breaking it up by mixing in a few older pieces or something handmade. Handwoven rugs from Wisteria or blankets from Pendelton's home collections might work well.

Enjoy the Hunt:

Don't mind used, but can't afford an antique's price tag? Remember your local thrift shops. One person's trash and all. It may be hard to imagine if you're mad for mid-century, but some people still find this stuff ugly. You'd be surprised what you can find at Goodwill or Value Village. Just keep in mind that you might not be buying a real vintage piece.

Easy Does It:

Like the design but can't afford the designer? Stores such as IKEA sell inexpensive furniture in the mid-century modern style.

Warm Up

Warm yourself up the rest of the winter by making yourself, or a loved one a rice heat therapy bag. They are fabulous, you just heat it up in the microwave. I bring mine to bed with me at night to warm my feet up. You can also put different yummy oils inside (such as lavender).

My sister gave me a rice bag similar to this one a few years ago. The rice inside does get old so I need to make a new one. I found this one on Sew Mama Sew. It looks super easy and fun. What a great way to survive the remaining cold months.

Rocker

This rocker is so irresistible! So simple, and I love the bright orange. It even has a spot in the back for you little tot to store all of his books.

Eat Drink and be Merry

This is so funny, I just found this on a website. I also did the same thing in my kitchen using letters from urbanoutfitters.com. I think this one is way better and it is a great price! So go ahead and add something fun and bright to your kitchen or dining area.
